Student Planning Calculator — Estimates

This calculator estimates graduation timing and an OBBBA-style prorated annual federal loan limit when enrolled less than full-time. Program level and (for undergraduates) dependency status are selected in Section 1 and passed down (no need to ask again).

1) Credits → Estimated Graduation Year

This applies to undergraduate Direct Loan limits. It is not used for graduate loans.
Defaults automatically based on Program level: Undergraduate = 12 credits; Graduate = 9 credits. This value is passed down to the loan section so we don’t ask again.
Graduation estimate uses your planned pace of Term One + Term Two credits per academic year.

2) Loan Eligibility — Less-than-Full-Time Proration (OBBBA-style)

Credits for Term One, Term Two, full-time credits per term, and (for undergraduates) dependency status are passed down automatically from Section 1. Subsidized eligibility also depends on financial need; this tool shows the maximum allowed under annual limits.

Auto-fills from dependency + level selections. For 4th-year undergrads, limits typically match 3rd-year (upper-division).
Graduate Direct Loans are typically unsubsidized only. Adjust if your policy/guidance differs.
Most graduate students have $0 subsidized eligibility.
Proration uses annual enrollment intensity: (Term One + Term Two) ÷ (Full-time per term × 2).

Important: This is an estimate for planning. Confirm actual eligibility with your Financial Aid Office.
