Often the job that we secure is not what we envision for ourselves because the job did not turn out to be what we anticipated, or we took it just to pay the bills. We may be tempted to feel disappointed or even despondent. I would like to share some advice that has inspired me over the years:
• What ever job you have, always put your best foot forward and do it to the best of your ability
• Patience, preparation and perseverance is key
• Always set goals and perform the due diligence to reach them
• Every experience is a learning one and it is up to you what you take away from it
• To stop learning is to stop growing; strive to grow to your fullest potential
• Education can get you in the game, but attitude and character determine how well you play
Favorite Time at SCSU
My favorite time in SCSU is getting together with other students, faculty and staff to share and exchange ideas on a variety of subjects. I believe that the nursery for inspiration and innovation is any forum where intellectual ideas can be exchanged without censorship.
What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?
I am going to miss the support system that acknowledges hard work and determination and makes every effort to help you succeed. I am looking forward to inspiring and being a support to others.
Advice to Incoming Students
This is the time to push yourself, test your limits and to create a path to your place in society. Don’t just strive to get by, find your passion and excel in it. University is an experience, and securing a degree is just part of it. Explore every opportunity of nonacademic exposure like playing key roles in clubs and organizations, this will help you develop leadership qualities and team spirit.
