Social Work
Cum Laude Honors

Walking this path with you has been an irreplaceable gift. You have inspired me to grow, both personally and professionally, and I mean every word. We went through it together — the highs, the lows, and every challenge in between. But here we are. We made it. And what we've accomplished, us and the families who sacrificed alongside us, is something no one can ever take away. Be proud of that. Be humble about it, too. Thank you, from my heart. This imperfectly perfect community got us here. We entered as students, leave as colleagues, and built friendships that will last beyond graduation. I wish you the most fulfilling career, and I hope you accomplish everything you set your mind to. Congratulations, Class of 2026.

Favorite Time at SCSU

What truly made my time at SCSU exceptional was connecting with people from all over the world. Through conferences, professional events, and every experience in between, I forged friendships that will last a lifetime and created memories with people I never would have met otherwise. Being part of something bigger than myself is what sets this chapter apart. My professors became true partners in my journey. Their support and mentorship empowered me to find my voice, advocate for my beliefs, and see the value in every day. Their encouragement deepened my appreciation for the community I found at SCSU. Watching my classmates find and pursue their passions has been rewarding. I am grateful and proud to be graduating from SCSU. This chapter of my life is one I will never forget.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

My cohort. That's what I'll miss most. We spent two years together, facing challenges, breakthroughs, and late nights. Despite our differences, our shared commitment to serving others and our support for one another brought us together and kept us going. We encouraged each other to reach graduation. That support is priceless and hard to fully express. I'll miss this community, the mentors, organizations, especially Social Work Organization , and alumni who pour their passion into many causes and show us our generation is already making history. Witnessing people take action has given me so much hope. This experience was unique because of them. I look forward to seeing everyone succeed, achieve their dreams, and build meaningful lives and families. I am committed to serving my community and the bigger picture. I carry everything I learned from the classroom and my fellow Class of 2026 graduates. I will always be proud and grateful to call myself an SCSU graduate.

Advice to Incoming Students

Get involved by taking the initiative. Don't be shy; instead, be bold. Put yourself in spaces that push you to grow, both inside and far beyond the classroom. Remember, this opportunity is bigger than any single course or assignment. Use this time to take advantage of the chance to be part of something larger than yourself. Learn from the people around you and network. Keep an eye out for your role models. Find your people. Face challenges head-on when they come (and they will), make sure to welcome them as opportunities. That’s how you’ll make this experience truly meaningful and life-changing. You are here because you have a dream. You came to equip yourself with the tools to make it real, so own that. Be proud of yourself; after all, every single day you show up, you are taking a step forward.
