Quill IV, in perpetuity, in recognition of his dedication to Southern Connecticut State University and the Students he served for nearly three decades.

What can a centuries-old Buddhist tradition teach us about how we live, think, and connect with the world today? Join Faculty Scholar Award recipient C. Michele Thompson of our Department of History for an engaging exploration of mindfulness and its fascinating roots in Southeast Asian Buddhist traditions. Drawing upon extensive research throughout Vietnam, China, and Singapore, Professor Thompson will explore the life and teachings of Vietnamese Buddhist monk Thích Nhất Hạnh, one of the most influential figures in bringing mindfulness to a global audience. But mindfulness is more than a modern wellness trend—it is part of a rich historical and cultural tradition shaped by centuries of Buddhist thought, medicine, and practice. Take a moment to pause, reflect, and discover the deeper history behind a practice that has transformed how millions of people approach everyday life - come experience mindfulness through the eyes of a historian.

Planetarium Show: Exploring Exoplanets

The Physics and Earth Science Departments are pleased to present an out-of-this-world feature of a full-dome movie in the campus planetarium using our new digital projector! This 30-minute show will explore exoplanets: Planets outside of our solar system that orbit stars, which means... potential life! Seating is limited, so there will be two sessions (11 am and 1 pm). Plan to arrive a few minutes early, and please be aware that food and beverages are not permitted inside the planetarium.
Please arrive shortly before 11 am; limited seating, 1st come, 1st serve
