Where should I stay when returning to campus for Homecoming weekend?

There are a number of lodging accommodations available near campus. Here are a few affordable options, but feel free to conduct your own search for a more expansive list.

What does the schedule of events look like?

What should I do when I am not attending Homecoming events?

New Haven is full of life and entertainment. See everything that's happening in New Haven.

Is the bookstore open?

Yes! Stop by the University Bookstore to get your Owl gear. The bookstore also will have a table set up near Jess Dow Field throughout the day. You may also visit the apparel and Spirit Shop online to grab your game-day attire!

Who should I call in case of an emergency?

In case of an emergency, call 911 for immediate assistance. For on-campus emergencies, you can also contact Campus Police at (203) 392-5375.


Campus

Can I eat in Connecticut Hall?

We have a number of food trucks available at Homecoming and Family Weekend to accommodate most dietary needs; however, Connecticut Hall is open for brunch on Saturday, October 5th, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., and re-opens for dinner 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.  The Student Center dining options are closed on weekends. Food trucks accept cash and cards.

Can I work out at the Recreation & Wellness facilities?

Only students, faculty, and staff are eligible for fitness center membership and can use the facilities.

How do I get around campus?

There are a number of new and renovated facilities on campus! We are conducting campus tours during Homecoming and Family Weekend on Saturday between 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. (in front of Wintergreen Building). These are walking tours, guided by our student and professional staff members. Campus Map

Where are the restrooms?

Public restrooms are located in Moore Fieldhouse, Jess Dow Field, and port-a-potties and wash stations on the field near Owl Town, and in North Campus Parking Lot (Tailgate area).  Many of our academic buildings will be open during normal hours over the weekend and have bathroom facilities.


Events

What are the plans for this year’s class reunion?

The 50th reunion class is invited to join the President and other VIPs in the President’s Box, up at Jess Dow Field. 50th reunion members will also have reserved tables and seats underneath the Owl Town tent.

When does registration open?

One does not have to register for Homecoming and Family Weekend in general; however, there are specific events (some fee-based, some complimentary), that require registration to attend:

  • Family Day Early Owl Breakfast (purchase required)
  • Family Day (general – no purchase required)
  • LGBTQ+ panel and networking reception (complimentary registration)

Do I need to register for all events?

Each of our featured events listed in the Events page will indicate whether or not a registration is required.


Game Day

Where should I park on game day?

  • Wintergreen Parking Garage: Located past Moore Field House on Wintergreen Avenue (a 3-minute walk from the Homecoming and Family Weekend activities)
  • Lot 2: Beside Buley Library on Fitch Street (a 5- to 7-minute walk from the Homecoming and Family Weekend activities)
  • Fitch Street Parking Garage: Behind Pelz Gymnasium (a 10-minute walk to the Homecoming and Family Weekend activities)

What are the rules for tailgating?

Read the tailgating policy. The policy will be posted on sandwich boards throughout the tailgating area and handed to any vehicles entering the area.  Also, there will be campus police and event security present throughout the day.
