Favorite Time at SCSU

I always enjoyed spending time with my friends on campus. I favorite part of being on campus was my field work experience in the New Haven public schools. I learned useful teaching strategies and worked in many great classrooms. Also, I enjoyed staying up late at night watching "The Office" and ordering Pizza Heaven

As we come to the end of our college journey, I can't help but feel a mix of emotions – excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead, sadness for leaving behind the memories and friendships we've made, and gratitude for the experiences and lessons we've gained. I can't believe we are here, we survived and most of all we persevered. These past few years at Southern have challenged us in ways we never thought possible. We've been offered us the chance to challenge ourselves and we have pushed each other to reach beyond our own expectations. We've laughed, cried, succeeded, failed, and grown together as a community. Even though we may be going our separate ways, I have no doubt that we'll continue to support and inspire each other as we start the next chapter of our lives. I want to thank each and every one of you for the impact you've had on my college experience, and for helping me become the person I am today. Congratulations on this incredible achievement, I can't wait to experience to the bright future that awaits us all. This isn't goodbye.

Favorite Time at SCSU

My favorite part about time at Southern was being able to meet and be surrounded by so many people who really supported me in multifaceted ways. I always felt that I had somewhere to turn when I needed the support. This really allowed me the opportunity to do the same my fellow Owls. Over time I grew into leader and an advocate for my community which has undoubtedly been my favorite part.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I am going to miss being a part of such a warm and tight-knit community that is infectiously filled with Southern Pride. I will be forever thankful to have experienced this during my years here at SCSU. I am looking forward to the future and all the possibilities that are now within reach.

Advice to Incoming Students

As a graduating senior, I can confidently say that my college experiences have left and will continue to leave a profound impact on my life in countless ways. There is something captivating about being a part of Southern’s campus that has made me realize that my education is more than just going to class and checking off all the boxes. My advice to you is to embrace every opportunity that comes your way, whether it's joining a new club, taking a class outside of your major, or simply striking up a conversation with someone you don't know. It's through these experiences that you'll not only discover your passions and interests, but also develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in life beyond college. Cherish the friendships you'll make, look to your Southern community and seek out help when you need it and don't be afraid to take risks and make mistakes. Most importantly, remember that college is a journey, not just a destination, so enjoy every moment of it.
