It is insane to think that our time at this university is over, but it is. Many of us had our college experience interrupted by COVID, but we stood up to the challenge and finished the mission. Congrats, SCSU Class of 2023!

Favorite Time at SCSU

This university is so underrated, it deserves a lot more attention. The education is near the top in quality, and more people should know about it.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I am going to miss nothing, honestly. My main objective coming here was to get a degree and move on. I did enjoy my experiences in the classrooms but did not do much outside of them. I am excited to be presented the opportunities for jobs in the very near future that otherwise would not be options without a college degree.

Advice to Incoming Students

Don't take your time here for granted. If you thought high school went by fast, wait until you become a college student. It somehow goes by even faster. Do your work on time but don't rush it. Attend your classes. Make some friends while you're at it. Do what you are supposed to do, but never take anything you do here for granted. Your time here is limited, so make the most of it.

Favorite Time at SCSU

My favorite part was being able to attend the events on campus like Southern Idol or the carnivals Southern would organize for us students in the Spring.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I will miss being with my classmates since they brought so much joy to my life. I look forward to meeting new people in my profession who can help make me feel as comfortable and accepted as my classmates made did.

Advice to Incoming Students

To remember that graduating is not a race, to take your time and remember to put your own mental well being first. School will always be available and around, but your mental well being is a precious thing that requires your top priority.

Fellow Graduates, we did it! This was a wild year... many naps were needed, especially towards the end, & A LOT of quesadillas and strawberry jam uncrustables were eaten. Thank you to everyone who made me forget all of my problems and had fun with me. I'll definitely never forget the laughs and the kindness from the friends I made at this university, especially my journalism friends.

Favorite Time at SCSU

Working at the school newspaper, the Southern News, was definitely my favorite part of being a student at Southern. I learned so much with this experience and met so many people because of it. Shout out to my Southern News buddies: Sofia Rositani and Jaylen Carr! I also cannot forget being Editor-in-Chief of Crescent magazine. As stressful as it was at times, it truly gave me experience outside of the classroom that I needed to be a true magazine editor.
