Congratulations fellow owls, the best is yet to come. Whether you are receiving your bachelor or Masters degree today, you deserve a warm and delightful congratulations. This graduation is unlike any other we’ve witnessed at Southern, but through some ups and many downs, we’ve made it. As you walk across this stage today, take a moment to reflect on your past years at Southern, the number of sacrifices you, your family, and friends made to get you where you are now. You can achieve whatever you want in your life, and all you’ve to do is to simply believe in yourself. Don’t ever stop believing in yourself, keep grinding. Congratulations again.

Attending all social distance events at Southern allowed me the opportunity to connect with various leaders across multiple field has transformed me into a person I am today. A shy college freshman, fearful of human interaction, I could never have imagined how my life would change in just 4 years. With the support of faculty, staff, family and friends I went from shy, isolated student to a student leader with positions such as Orientation Ambassador, Peer Mentor, Muslim Student Association Club President, Social Justice advocate, Math Tutor and Track Athlete and so forth. While my path hasn’t been always easy, I have grown into a confident, considerate and respected leader both at my workplace and university. My academic, leadership and professional experiences have transformed me into an independent and dedicated student and I am positive that these skills will serve me well in the future as I embark on this next chapter of my life.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

Sitting in the library every night waiting for my friends to discuss their daily life and connecting with each other at interpersonal level.
