Being a part of Delta Phi Epsilon sorority, homecoming games, nights at New West and downtown, and hanging out with all my friends on campus
Make as many connections as possible and maintain them, and always put yourself first!
Meeting new people along the way.
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” - Nelson Mandela
My favorite time at Southern Connecticut State University was during those late night assignments sessions especially edtpa that somehow turned into heartfelt conversations, laughter, and unexpected friendships. That is when I realized it was more than academics. It was about supporting each other, and creating memories that would last far beyond the classroom.
What I am going to miss the most is the sense of community being surrounded by mentors and classmates who understand the journey because they’re walking it too. What I am looking forward to the most is the opportunity to take everything I’ve learned and apply it to the real world. I am excited to enroll in grad school, discover new passions, meet new people, and continue growing into the person I’m meant to be.
Take your time finding your rhythm there’s no perfect way to do it at Southern Connecticut State University. Get involved, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. The connections you make and experiences you have outside the classroom are just as important as the lectures and textbooks. Remember it is okay to struggle sometimes. What matters the most is that you keep showing up and asking for help when you need it. Celebrate your small wins , be kind to yourself, and don’t forget to enjoy the journey it goes by faster than you think.
Joining the brotherhood of TKE, has been one of the favorite things I have done within my college career. Meeting my brothers has been something that has changed my life and how I look at myself.
Honestly, just seeing everyone that I have grown close with these past years. It going to be a difficult challenge getting used to this new schedule of my life moving forward.
Trust in yourself, and you can accomplish anything.
Meeting new friends and learning what I love to do.
Dr. J-T! I love you and thank you for everything!
Don’t ever give up! It gets hard and frustrating, but it’s worth it!

Take your time, what’s the rush. Use this time to figure yourself out and come up with a plan along the way.
Always learning within my classes, spending time with my genuine friends, and always praying throughout my days whether the days were good or bad.
I’ll miss being young and experiencing life in this unique chapter, growing, learning, and making memories in college that shaped to who I am today, while also looking forward to becoming the woman I’m meant to be stronger, wiser, and walking in purpose for the rest of my life.
Protect your peace, trust your path, and don’t shrink yourself to fit into spaces that weren’t built for you. Stay close on faith, ask for help when you need it, and always remember—you are enough, even on your hardest days.
Creating memories with my friends both inside and outside of the classroom! I have friendships that are international now all because of Southern, and that started sitting next to one another in class.
I am going to miss the people that I started my college career the most. Being an undergraduate student had its blessings, but I am looking forward to coming back as a graduate student in the fall!
I would say to shoot for the stars. Take every opportunity, ask for new ones, push your boundaries because no one is going to do it for you. This is the time to start the path of your success, so do the things you thought you would never do because it may just turn out to be the thing that rewards you in the future.
joining the Delta Phi Epsilon sorority
I’m going to miss the welcoming and bright environment of Southern and my sorority that I’m leaving behind.

Playing every single softball game with my teammates for one last season.
I’m going to miss my teammates and coaches the most.
Live in the moment and have no regrets!
The best part was meeting so many incredible people, but what truly stood out was witnessing the dedication of the staff who worked tirelessly to keep the show running smoothly. My mornings always started on the right foot when I arrived and was greeted by the warm smile of the person at the parking garage entrance. It was a simple gesture, but it made all the difference.
What I'll miss most is the freedom to explore random classes and embrace new ideas with an open mind. The ability to learn just for the sake of learning has been truly special.
Keep an open mind, build meaningful friendships, dedicate yourself to your studies, and savor every moment—because before you know it, time will fly by.
Meeting new people and getting to know the amazing professors at SCSU. Also working with my advisor, who helped me every step of the way.

I'm going to miss my amazing friends, sisters and the staff that got me through the past four years!! I appreciate you all. I'm looking forward to becoming an amazing teacher making positive change in the lives of all students.
Don't wait for life to be perfect to be happy. There's always going to be something that comes up that is challenging, especially throughout your college experience. Take that chance, fight for what is important to you and never forget your friends and the people who are there to get you through it. You're going to do amazing.
My favorite part of my time at SCSU was creating bonds with my now called family. My support system at SCSU has been the best and I have been guided and supported by the loveliest people ever. I am very appreciative of the friends and mentors I met.
I am going to miss my therapy sessions with my UAP coach, academic advisor, and my favorite English professor. Each individual has been supportive of me from the beginning of my time at SCSU and I am blessed to be able to have multiple people that I can freely trust and confide in without feeling judged. I am looking forward to starting my new career in Healthcare and enjoying my new life.
My advice to incoming students is to prioritize your mental health, utilize each and every support system and resource available to you, and to never be afraid to ask for help. There are so many people here that will support you and hear you out, so don’t be afraid to ask for help!
Going to New York City with the Asian Culture Society!

I am going to miss my track team the most. We trained everyday together, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
College can totally be one of the best times of your life—it's really what you make of it. Do your studies, have fun and soak everything in. Join some clubs; make friends. Trust me, you'll look back and wish you could do it all again.
Going to miss the campus environment and the fun times with classmates and professors.

Work hard, PLAY Hard
My favorite part of my time at SCSU has been the journey of growth—both personally and creatively. From refining my design skills in the classroom to working on projects that challenged and inspired me, every experience has shaped who I am today. Being surrounded by talented peers, supportive professors, and a community that encourages creativity has been invaluable. But beyond academics, the connections I’ve made, the late-night brainstorming sessions, and the moments of pure inspiration will stay with me forever. SCSU has been more than just a university—it’s been a space where I found my voice as a designer and an artist.
I’ll definitely miss the creative environment at SCSU—the spontaneous design discussions, collaborating with classmates, and the energy of being surrounded by people who are just as passionate about art and design. I’ll also miss the mentorship from professors who pushed me to refine my skills and think beyond the obvious. And, of course, those moments of late-night grinding on projects, fueled by coffee and determination. I’m excited to take everything I’ve learned and apply it to the real world—whether it’s growing as a graphic designer, building my own brand, or exploring new creative challenges. I’m looking forward to more independence, new collaborations, and pushing my limits even further. Most of all, I can’t wait to see how my work evolves and impacts people beyond the classroom.
College is more than just classes and grades. It’s about growth, challenges, and discovering what truly excites you. Take every opportunity to learn, experiment, and push yourself creatively.
Joining Delta Phi Epsilon and becoming Vice President of Equity and Belonging. Hosting numerous events and educating the chapter. As well as connecting with my sisters and getting my own little. The fashion shows and winning deepher dude was super fun!
I am going to miss the Earl hall and being able to paint more than 8 hours a day. I am going to miss the friends I made. I am looking forward to putting my education forward and applying it to my job!
Be yourself and get involved on campus, join clubs that interest you. Go to meet the Greeks, find the space that’s perfect for you. Having a space on campus makes you feel less alone. Use CASAS !!
I enjoyed meeting Spike Lee. It was an unforgettable experience to meet a legend! I also enjoyed bringing my daughter on campus and joining BSU, CSA, and F.A.C.E
I’m going to miss the friends I made. I look forward to more opportunities and experiences
Stay focused on what matters
My favorite part of my time at southern was being the president of the Caribbean Student Association
My community that turned into family
Don’t overthink, you are not what you’re going through and it will not last forever.
The community in the classroom was always accepting and welcoming. Students and Professors alike!
I’m going to miss living on campus and enjoying campus events. I’m looking forward to moving forward in advancing my career after years of hard work!
Speak up and take advantage of the resources available to you. Ask questions and don’t forget to enjoy every second!
What I enjoyed most during my time at SCSU was working at the Student Center and interacting with my peers and staff.
I will miss the community at Southern the most! The welcoming atmosphere that Southern has is something I won't forget! I'm looking forward to celebrating with my friends and family at the commencement celebration.
My advice to incoming students is to step out of your comfort zone and embrace the challenges and new opportunities that Southern provides! em
One of my favorite experiences at SCSU was being actively involved in the campus and local community, where I had the chance to connect with others, make a positive impact, and grow both personally and professionally.
If I could offer any advice to incoming students, it would be to get involved and find that one community on campus that feels like home, it makes all the difference!
There are 2 things that I will always cherish during my time at SCSU one would be making it to the NCAA tournament with the men’s basketball team during the 2023-2024 season and second would be doing the SCSU chant at graduation with the graduating class
I look forward to attending graduate school at southern pursuing my MBA
Try to do as much as you possibly can when it comes to getting involved you never know who is listening or who is inspired by your story.
It's okay if you're not sure what you want to do in the future, take your time. This isn't a race, so don't be too hard on yourself. You have to be confident in you and believe you can do it. You've made it this far, and that's something to be proud of. Trust yourself and do what feels right for you, not what others think you should do. When I started college, I thought I knew what I wanted, but I ended up changing my major several times and now I am graduating! Explore your interests, ask questions, and seek advice from alumni and professors. Get involved on campus, join clubs, attend events, and connect with others. It's a great way to grow, build your network, and enjoy the experience. Yes, study hard, but don't forget to have fun and live your life. Your college experience is what you make of it, so make the most of it. I'm proud of you. You've come a long way, and you're capable of amazing things! You will do great.
Well, aside from learning to navigate online discussion boards like a caffeinated ninja at midnight, I’d say it was the slow, steady, and sometimes hilariously stubborn process of becoming who I am today. This journey took me 25 years. That’s right—twenty-five. When I started, I was a kid pretending to be a grown-up. Now, I’m a grown-up who still sometimes feels like a kid, but one with a purpose, a plan, and a job offer. The version of me that walked into this journey is not the same person walking across the graduation stage—and thank goodness for that. SCSU gave me more than just credits and coursework. It gave me clarity, community, and a reminder that it’s never too late to finish what you started—even if your teenager might graduate right behind you. I’m grateful for every class, every late-night paper, and every professor who helped me see my potential—even when I couldn’t.
What am I going to miss the most? Honestly? The chaos. The deadlines. The weird thrill of turning in an assignment at 11:59 p.m. and feeling like I just defused a bomb. But mostly, I’ll miss the challenge of being surrounded by people who were all chasing something better professors who cared, classmates who showed up, and that quiet little feeling of "I think I’m doing this." What am I looking forward to the most? Wearing actual work pants instead of pajama bottoms during Zoom classes! Just kidding… kind of. I’m looking forward to stepping into my new role as a Special Education teacher & getting DSAP-certified to teach. I can’t wait to bring what I’ve learned into a classroom where I can make real change for real kids. Also, let’s be honest—I’m excited to not have to answer, “So… when are you finishing your degree?” anymore. Spoiler alert: I just did it!
1. Embrace the chaos. College will throw curveballs—assignments, exams, life itself. Don’t panic. You’ll survive (probably). Just remember: some of the best lessons come from the mess. 2.Ask for help. You’re not supposed to know it all. Professors, classmates—everyone’s there to help. Don’t be shy, even if it’s for something you think is “stupid” (spoiler: there’s no such thing). 3.Take care of you. Don’t get lost in assignments. Take breaks, eat snacks, and breathe. College is a marathon, not a sprint. 4. The “real world” can wait. You’ll figure it out. And if you change your major a few times, you’re just doing it right. 5. Find a mentor (or ten). They’ve been there, done that, and have the T-shirt. Lean on them. You’ll be glad you did. 6. And remember, laugh a lot. College is crazy, but if you can look back and laugh, you’ve already won.
My favorite part was transferring into SCSU. From the second i got on campus i felt welcomed and comfortable. No school has ever made me feel so happy , and from the second i stepped on campus i knew this would be the right choice.
I am going to miss my friends the most because I am out of state. However, I am looking forward to starting my nursing career and becoming the nurse i’ve always wanted to be.
Be open to anything and everything . SCSU has so much to offer!
Leading "Monthly Magic" LGBTQ+ Spirituality group with The SAGE Center.
I'm gonna miss classes with my friends. I am most looking forward to taking what I have learned out into the world to help make it a better place.
Have fun! And remember that Southern is a place full of opportunities for those that are seeking them.
All the commuter events with food and prizes and hosting events as MSA president!
I’m going to miss my friends and all the free time I had. I’m looking forward to starting a new chapter and finally doing what I’ve been working towards this whole time!
Live in the moment, not the past or future. Your time in college goes by so much faster than you think. Also go to all the events that you possibly can! You’ll make new friends, lay back, and enjoy the free food!!
My favorite part was joining Alpha Sigma Alpha! I loved my time there and can’t wait to see the chapter grow!
Honestly I would say I’ll miss something about SCSU but I’ll be back for Fall 2025 to pursue my Masters Degree! Not leaving the Owls just yet!
Honestly take every moment in because time goes by so fast! Take advantage of all the help that SCSU offers because it will help in the long run! Go to those events, join a club, join a frat or sorority because you never know who you can meet! You got this!
My favorite part was the community. Whether it was connecting with professors who genuinely cared, study sessions with friends, or simply walking across campus between classes, there was always a sense of support and belonging. SCSU gave me more than an education; it gave me memories, confidence, and people who inspired me to keep growing.
I’ll really miss the meaningful connections: talking with professors like Professor Anand, who supported and challenged me. I’ll miss spending time with my friend Q, who was a true constant through it all. I’m looking forward to what’s next: growing, creating new opportunities, and continuing on a path I know is leading somewhere great. The sky isn’t the limit, it’s just where I begin.
Take your time finding your rhythm; everyone moves at their own pace, and that’s okay. Don’t be afraid to connect with your professors; they can become your biggest supporters. And even if you only make one real friend, that’s enough. Focus on growth, stay true to yourself, and trust that you belong here.
My favorite part of my time at Scsu was being an RA, hanging with friends, and meeting all the new people!
I’m going to miss interacting with everyone on campus and all the events that were held!
Keep going! The 4 years may seem long, but it’s going to fly by so fast that you wished it slowed down!
One of my favorite memories at SCSU has to be playing table tennis with professors and friends. it was an amazing way to connect, share laughs, and build bonds that made my time here unforgettable.
What I'll miss most are the vibrant fun events, the lively energy of the campus, my incredible fellow tutors, and the friends who turned ordinary days into unforgettable ones. What I’m most looking forward to is taking all those cherished memories and lessons with me as I step into new opportunities, ready to embrace the adventures that lie ahead.
Don’t shy away from building connections with new people. It’s those bonds that make the journey worthwhile.
I’m truly going to miss all the incredible people who made my college experience unforgettable. It was definitely a good time, not a long time! I’m excited for the journey ahead and all the new opportunities and paths waiting for me. Here’s to watching my businesses grow and thrive as I continue to walk proudly in my Black excellence!
To all the incoming college students—GO OUTSIDE! Don’t spend all your time cooped up in your dorm. Step out, get involved, and be present. Go to the events, the games, the random campus activities. Introduce yourself, make connections, and network—you never know who you’ll meet or what doors will open. Trust me, these experiences will shape your college years in the best way. You won’t regret it!
My best friend from high school, Shamar Livingston joining SCSU my junior year and us being able to see each other more often.
I am looking forward to my upcoming deployment this year. I am the only female leadership in my current unit and I am excited to further my career and show women that you can be in college, work a full time job, and still be boss leader in the military which is a male dominated field.
Take your time. A lot can happen in four years. Do not feel like you need to rush anything and take your time. Do not feel discouraged either. Everyone has a different path. I used to beat myself up about how I’m not up to speed, but I took a step back and realized that I do have a lot going on in my life and that I’m on the pace and path that God put me on. You got this. Do not lose faith in God, but do not lose faith in yourself.
Working as a UA in the sculpture department
The campus is very calm and safe. I love the annual multicultural food event!
The relationships I have built with my professors and classmates.
Make sure you stay connected to current campus events and informaion. There are so many great events missed due to lack of information. Also, look at the bulletin boards of paper ads and information posted around campus buildings.
Make as many connections as possible and go to all of the events on campus because you never know who you’ll meet!
Getting to know others in different classes, and being able to build friendships.
I’m going to miss walking on campus and being a student here, but I am looking forward to applying to the ACE Nursing Program !
Make sure all assignments are handed in prior to the deadline in order to stay ahead of work and give yourself more time to focus on important classes. Enjoy the time you have because it goes by so quick!
My favorite time at SCSU was freshman year when I lived on campus at Farnham Hall. I am so glad I decided to live on campus that year because I got the true college experience and was able to make lifelong friends! It pushed me to be more independent and grow out of my comfort zone.
The thing I will miss the most is seeing my peers all the time. Nursing school was very hard work and I couldn't have done it without the camaraderie amongst our class. We all stuck together through good times and bad, and were always supporting one another! The thing I am looking forward to the most is not having to write any more papers or take any more exams. I know I will always be learning on the job and I will likely end up going back to school in the future, but having a break from it for a while will be great.
To incoming students, my biggest piece of advice is to "go for it." In order to grow, you need to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. Things may seem scary, but once you accomplish it, you will feel all the more proud. Take advantage of the many resources SCSU has to offer and you will thrive! Never give up on yourself!
Some of my favorite memories from SCSU come from being on the dance team; performing, supporting our teams, and bonding with an amazing group of dancers. I also loved attending campus events, from cultural showcases to fun pop-up activities that brought our community together. Those moments made campus feel like home.
I’m going to miss cheering from the sidelines at football and basketball games, being part of campus life, and spending time with my friends. SCSU gave me a second family and a place to grow and I’ll always be grateful for that. I’ll carry those memories with me wherever I go. I’m looking forward to traveling more, spending quality time with my family and friends, and stepping into a new role in the education field. I’m also excited to begin exploring graduate programs in speech-language pathology as I continue my journey to help and inspire others.
Take your time finding your rhythm; it’s okay not to have everything figured out. I did 5 years and even changed my major. Get involved, be open to new experiences, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. There is something for everyone at Southern. The friendships you make and the passions you discover along the way will shape your college journey in the best way. Without Southern, I wouldn’t have discovered my passion for American Sign Language. And remember: advocate for yourself, take care of your mental health, and enjoy every moment because it for sure does go by faster than you think.
Making friends in my major.
I am going to miss seeing the same people I've been able to learn with for the past two years but I'm excited to see what they'll all accomplish!
It's okay to be a commuter! You will still find your people! Good things take time.
My Favorite part of being at SCSU was definitely my time working with students at CASAS and having Fall and Spring trainings. I really loved learning new ways to carry myself in order to be the best help I could be to my students. I love Academic Success Coaching with a passion and fire I didn't even know I had. The most rewarding part of coaching is seeing the overall improvement from their first appointment with me to their last appointment. I loved hearing how helpful I was to them and how they felt more motivated and energized to complete their work after having a meeting with me. It genuinely makes me so proud to be part of their success journey.
Due to have worked at CASAS, been the Secretary for the Caribbean Student Association, and having worked at Wintergreen, I knew and was acquainted with A LOT of people, so I am going to miss bumping into someone I know from literally any corner of campus. I genuinely feel like there isn't anywhere on campus that I could feel lost or out of place because there was always someone I knew or had a good rapport with. I will miss the community of Southern, because some elder staff members started to feel like older aunts and uncles, all looking out for me and cheering me on. :)
GET INVOLVED ON CAMPUS!! GET INVOLVED ON CAMPUS!! GET INVOLVED ON CAMPUS!! GET INVOLVED ON CAMPUS!! I can not stress it enough, become E Board members, become Student Leaders, take on leadership positions, be the head or organizer of something. These moments and situations are your experience builders that will teach you how the real world works. These are the moments where you learn how to work with other people, you learn how to brainstorm, you learn how to speak up, you learn how to communicate better, and you learn how to apply critical thinking in a real-life scenario. And then later on these are the moments and situations you put on your resume. It all comes full circle, and it starts from using your environment to shape you into who you want to become. Closed mouths don't get fed, and Growth does not happen in your comfort zone. :D
The professors, because they want you to succeed, and the people I can now call my friends.
I will miss the people I have grown close to, but I'm most looking forward to finally getting some sleep
It is never too late to pursue a second career.
Stay the course, there is light at the end of every tunnel.
Meeting all of my friends!
I’m going to miss having meaningful conversations with my friends in my English classes and in the common room!
Do what you’re passionate about and the rest will follow.
Working for the presidents office, it has been a true honor. George, Jessica, Dr. D, JR, you have forever changed my life and me as a person. Thank you for taking me under your wing and giving me an opportunity to serve SCSU.
I’m gonna miss knowing that theres always someone there for me. Not in a selfish way, just knowing someone genuinely cares about your future and your success. It means a lot to me, and I am so grateful for everything I’ve learned at this university.
When I was in your position I could have sworn that hope breeds eternal misery. At the end of the line you learn hope breeds a future. Have hope. Hold on to it.
One of my favorite experiences at SCSU was traveling to Chile through the COIL program. It gave me the chance to explore a culture I knew very little about and helped me grow both personally and professionally. I learned so much about what it truly takes to succeed in the marketing world. It also allowed me to reconnect with my roots and improve my Spanish, which was a bonus. The people I met and the connections I made were unforgettable, and I truly believe it was a blessing from God to be part of something so meaningful.
What I’ll miss most is the sense of community and the routine of coming to campus. I loved taking the train in and spending time with friends between classes. One of the biggest blessings was being able to worship with the La Fe Bible study group during the Spring 2025 semester. That experience truly became the highlight of my campus life and made me feel grounded in both faith and fellowship. The School of Business also became one of my favorite places to study, and I definitely plan to visit as an alum one day—hopefully to give a PEP talk and inspire others the way I was inspired. “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.” — Hebrews 10:23
Trust the process and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Give yourself grace—things won’t always go perfectly, and that’s okay. You’ll face hurdles along the way, but stay focused and determined. Surround yourself with people who uplift you, hold you accountable, and gently help you stay on track.
Meeting new friends and enjoying the beautiful campus
I’m looking forward to graduate school!! GO SCSU!
Take your time completing your Degree if you need it; it’s not a race!
Every day at SCSU was full of memories. Being part of the SCSU community, finding a best friend, and truly enjoying the beauty of the campus made it unforgettable.
I will miss the beautiful environment of SCSU and the people I met here.
Enjoy every moment at SCSU and take advantage of the resources.
My favorite part at my time at SCSU is meeting and socializing with different people from the student center and on campus events.
I’m going to miss the community that’s built here at SCSU. I love how we come together through different cultures and backgrounds.
Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.
Working on group projects and building real-world applications with classmates. The teamwork and late nights in the lab created great memories.
I’ll miss the campus life and the supportive professors. I’m looking forward to starting my career and applying everything I’ve learned.
Stay focused, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to try new things. College goes by fast, make the most of it.
Seeing Otus at events
I am going to miss seeing the pink flower trees around campus and I’m looking forward to starting my career
To take care of your mental health and make use of the free counseling on campus
Working as an Advising assistant at the Advising Center in Buley
No matter how tough it gets, don’t give up.
The campus and involvement
I’m going to miss the people i met and look forward to using my degree
Don’t be scared to go outside your comfort zone
Every. Single. Moment.
The welcoming environment and all activities.
Participate, often. Study, frequent. Be present in the moment, always.
No matter how hard it may seem, keep going, the reward at the end is priceless.
Spending time with professors truly learning the craft of teaching and being an educator in today’s world.
I’m going to miss the guidance that was provided to ensure I continue to thrive as an educator. I’m looking forward to finding a new position in my field and making curriculum for students.
Be patient, kind and loving to yourself! Mental health matters and if you are not 100 percent then you cannot give school 100 percent! Take care of yourself and push yourself to be the best version of you.
Interning for SCSU’s Marriage and Family Department.
I’m gonna miss the friends I made at Southern. However, I’m looking forward to come back in the fall to start my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy.
It’s worth it in the end, keep pushing, stay positive, you got this!!!
Meeting my partner, joining Delta Phi Epsilon, and figuring out my career path
The community, the departments on campus who supported and uplifted me, and the campus itself
Don’t be afraid to branch outside your comfort zone. Take the leap, you might end up somewhere that will change your life
One of my favorite parts about my time here at SCSU was meeting my boyfriend, who I have been with since my second semester of freshman year! Thank you SCSU for bringing me my other half <3!
I will miss sitting outside the bagel wagon while doing homework in the spring, and enjoying the weather and the community it brings out on campus. I will also miss the sunset walks back to my dorm or my car coming from class. I am mostly looking forward to grad school and beginning my future career, but I am also looking forward to being a first-generation graduate.
If there was any piece of advice I wish I was given coming into college, it would be to prioritize yourself and your academics. Do not procrastinate on your studies because it will add up and become extremely overwhelming. However, please remember to prioritize yourself, and your mental health! Find your balance between your academics, self-care, and social life. Have fun and be successful!
My favorite is art of my time at SCSU is going to all of the respite events that the school threw and meeting my friends from different majors
I think am going to miss the welcoming environment the most and I am looking forward to pursuing my future degrees and career
Advocate for yourself, it is the most important thing that you can do especially when entering college. It is also okay to not know right away what you want to do, these things take time.
Getting involved and taking advantage of leadership opportunities!
I’m going to miss walking around campus and seeing so many familiar faces. I’m looking forward to continuing my SCSU journey in the Speech Pathology graduate program!
Don’t be scared of going to events alone or doing things you’ve never done before, it could change your whole college experience for the better.
I enjoyed the campus life and talking to friends between classes.
I am going to miss all of the support I received at the SCSU Vet Center.
When the going gets tough in life, and you think you won’t succeed, keep fighting and you will overcome any obstacle.
Building upon my relationships with classmates, faculty, and staff, as well as the opportunity to mentor and assist individuals through my leadership roles: such as with being a Presidential Scholar Ambassador, President's Office Student Worker, College of Health of Human Services Student Ambassador, and Peer Mentor, to name a few roles.
Considering the privilege and honor of a lifetime to hold the leadership roles that I had, representing various departments and the school, as a whole, I will deeply miss my involvements, and the opportunities to make a positive impact at Southern. It has been amazing to share my knowledge and passions with students and guests of the university, whether it be about the nursing program or perhaps about just getting involved on campus. I will say, I am looking forward to having a bit more time for myself, in order to delve back into the passions that I had to step away from, due to university commitments. Aspects such as going back to volunteering, playing the saxophone, holding a consistent workout routine, devoting more personal time to myself, and developing, as well as strengthening my knowledge and skills as a nurse, is going to be exciting.
My advice that I would give to incoming students is the following: try your best to face those fears, break out of your shell, and pursue those goals. Perhaps in high school, or whatever stage of life you are in, there may have been some regrets, perhaps with not joining a club, talking to an individual, etc. With that, know that four years (more or less) are indeed going to "fly" by, and within the blink of an eye, you will be in my shoes, walking the stage in around a month or so. So again, please take those first steps and do what you want to do - apply for that leadership role, join that club, and/or attend that event. You never know what amazing people you may meet, and/or the wonderful, life-long memories that you will make!
Taking organic chemistry with my friends over the summer 2024. Couldn’t have done it without their support!
College friends are a different breed. Who else will hype you up at 2 AM, cry with you over deadlines, and then pretend they also studied zero minutes for that exam (even though they totally did)?
You’re not expected to have everything figured out. You’re a student — learning is literally the point.
