A lot of people dream. Few actually execute. Be one of the few.

Favorite Time at SCSU

Walking into Southern not knowing anyone, then leaving with friendships and bonds what will last a lifetime.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I'll miss the like-minded people I met and the memories we created along the way. I am looking forward to building something meaningful for myself and creating new goals to chase.

Advice to Incoming Students

Going to college is about more than just earning a piece of paper. It’s about the relationships you build and the discipline and consistency you develop along the way. Most importantly, don’t let the imaginary box others place you in limit who you can become.

To my fellow graduates: no matter how different our journeys looked, we all made it here! Be proud of yourself for every setback you pushed through to reach this moment. Four years ago, we had no idea where life would take us, and now we leave Southern stronger, wiser, and ready for whatever comes next. Go Owls 💙🦉

Favorite Time at SCSU

My favorite part of my time at SCSU was the people and memories that made Southern feel like home. From being part of FLEX from my very first day on campus, to late nights laughing in West Campus with my friends, to the energy and school pride at every Homecoming game, some of my best college memories were made here.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I already miss the sense of community that came with living on campus. Some of my favorite memories were the late nights spent laughing with friends, having deep conversations, and always being surrounded by people who supported each other through everything. What I’m looking forward to most is continuing my career in the sports industry. Southern’s Sport Management program gave me incredible opportunities, connections, and guidance that helped me land my dream role with the Hartford Yard Goats as a Marketing and Promotions Associate and Social Media Manager. I’m excited to see where this next chapter takes me!

Advice to Incoming Students

GET INVOLVED. Seriously, take advantage of everything Southern has to offer. Join FLEX, participate in leadership programs, go to the events your residence hall hosts, and say yes to new opportunities even when they feel outside your comfort zone. Some of the best parts of my college experience came from simply showing up, and that’s where I met some of the most amazing people who became lifelong friends.

This experience reminded me that growth can happen at any stage of life. No matter where we started or how long the journey took, we made it here. To anyone who ever doubted themselves, changed paths, or started over — I hope this moment serves as a reminder that growth is rarely linear, resilience helps carry us forward, and persistence matters more than perfect timing. Congratulations to the Class of 2026, and best wishes to everyone for whatever comes next.

Favorite Time at SCSU

My favorite part of being at Southern has been the sense of growth and community I found here. I came back to school later in life, and the support, opportunities, and connections I experienced truly changed my confidence in myself.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

What I’m going to miss most about being at Southern Connecticut State University is being constantly surrounded by people who are pushing themselves to become the best versions of themselves. I’m going to miss the support, encouragement, and motivation to keep challenging myself and growing. At the same time, I’m excited to continue furthering my development both academically and personally as I move into the next chapter.

Advice to Incoming Students

Everyone’s path looks different, and there’s no ‘right’ timeline for success. Don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Focus on learning, growing, and becoming the best version of yourself.

Walking this path with you has been an irreplaceable gift. You have inspired me to grow, both personally and professionally, and I mean every word. We went through it together — the highs, the lows, and every challenge in between. But here we are. We made it. And what we've accomplished, us and the families who sacrificed alongside us, is something no one can ever take away. Be proud of that. Be humble about it, too. Thank you, from my heart. This imperfectly perfect community got us here. We entered as students, leave as colleagues, and built friendships that will last beyond graduation. I wish you the most fulfilling career, and I hope you accomplish everything you set your mind to. Congratulations, Class of 2026.

Favorite Time at SCSU

What truly made my time at SCSU exceptional was connecting with people from all over the world. Through conferences, professional events, and every experience in between, I forged friendships that will last a lifetime and created memories with people I never would have met otherwise. Being part of something bigger than myself is what sets this chapter apart. My professors became true partners in my journey. Their support and mentorship empowered me to find my voice, advocate for my beliefs, and see the value in every day. Their encouragement deepened my appreciation for the community I found at SCSU. Watching my classmates find and pursue their passions has been rewarding. I am grateful and proud to be graduating from SCSU. This chapter of my life is one I will never forget.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

My cohort. That's what I'll miss most. We spent two years together, facing challenges, breakthroughs, and late nights. Despite our differences, our shared commitment to serving others and our support for one another brought us together and kept us going. We encouraged each other to reach graduation. That support is priceless and hard to fully express. I'll miss this community, the mentors, organizations, especially Social Work Organization , and alumni who pour their passion into many causes and show us our generation is already making history. Witnessing people take action has given me so much hope. This experience was unique because of them. I look forward to seeing everyone succeed, achieve their dreams, and build meaningful lives and families. I am committed to serving my community and the bigger picture. I carry everything I learned from the classroom and my fellow Class of 2026 graduates. I will always be proud and grateful to call myself an SCSU graduate.

Advice to Incoming Students

Get involved by taking the initiative. Don't be shy; instead, be bold. Put yourself in spaces that push you to grow, both inside and far beyond the classroom. Remember, this opportunity is bigger than any single course or assignment. Use this time to take advantage of the chance to be part of something larger than yourself. Learn from the people around you and network. Keep an eye out for your role models. Find your people. Face challenges head-on when they come (and they will), make sure to welcome them as opportunities. That’s how you’ll make this experience truly meaningful and life-changing. You are here because you have a dream. You came to equip yourself with the tools to make it real, so own that. Be proud of yourself; after all, every single day you show up, you are taking a step forward.
