Stick around with people that truly have your best-interest at heart, and don't do anything that can cost you your future.
My favorite time at SCSU is getting to campus early in the morning, I have been a commuter for all my time here. When the sun is rising, the clock on the library is still visibly lit, the dew from the grass, and no one is around. It is a beautiful feeling and scenery that is of solitude. It makes you have this personal connection to SCSU and its campus.
I am coming back for the fall to complete a Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting and then back to complete and MBA, so I cannot say that I will be leaving the campus just yet. However, if I was leaving completely, I would say that I would miss the commute in the city. Even though the traffic may make me late, the city is another feeling I won't forget.
I would advise incoming students to take their time and not rush their degree process. In the midst of rushing education, you may lose sense of the world around you. And when you come to that realization, you may think differently about you major or where your place is in the world. Taking your time helps you focus on what your true passions are. That, I think, is why so many college students change their major last minute. I never thought I would have changed my major, being halfway done with my degree. I was a Studio Art Ceramics major. By my Junior year, I switched to Business management. Far from each other and set me back 2 extra years. But I came to a realization of what my true passions and educational goals are. Take your time and just remember that it is never too late in life to finish a degree of any kind.
