SCSU really put effort in their events, especially during community hour. I’ve definitely got a lot of things to keep as mementos from my time at Southern, like t-shirts, stuffed animals, raffle prizes, and of course photos with my friends!
I will definitely miss the friendly atmosphere at Southern, and just little things like meeting friends at the bagel wagon or being able to just head to my favorite food spots after class. However, I am looking forward to starting my MPH program at Sacred Heart University!
As cliché as it may sound, you don’t need to have your career or major figured out as soon as you start college. I started my freshman year as one major that I wasn’t very happy about, and ended up finding my true calling by the time I was a sophomore. And make sure to attend as many events as possible, cause it’s definitely worth it!
The social work pinning ceremony! As much as I enjoyed my experience here at southern, my favorite part was finally getting to put a face to my peers and see them in person. Completely a BSW program completely virtual made things very challenging at times, but coming together for the first time ever and seeing everyone’s smiles really put my journey into perspective that I wouldn’t have been here without the support from my social work family.
I am going to miss being young and not knowing what’s next, and I’m going to miss the journey it took me to get here. Although it’s a bit of a love hate relationship with all the challenges it took me to get here, I am great full, and this feels so unreal! I am most excited for grad school, and my goal to obtain my MSW! As much as I am going to miss being young and not knowing what’s next, it’s because of this program that I know now exactly what I am supposed to do next. There is no doubt in my mind that I am on the right path, and I am excited for what’s next!
Never doubt your worth, and never let anyone tell you can’t! You can!
I met the most amazing people at Southern and have had some really great classes.
