Being a part of the Class of 2022 has definitely been a unique experience. Experiencing a pandemic first hand, especially as a public health major, was definitely not something I expected but I think my classmates and I did great work considering our circumstances. And all that hard work paid off, because we did it!!! Congratulations everyone!

Favorite Time at SCSU

SCSU really put effort in their events, especially during community hour. I’ve definitely got a lot of things to keep as mementos from my time at Southern, like t-shirts, stuffed animals, raffle prizes, and of course photos with my friends!

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I will definitely miss the friendly atmosphere at Southern, and just little things like meeting friends at the bagel wagon or being able to just head to my favorite food spots after class. However, I am looking forward to starting my MPH program at Sacred Heart University!

Advice to Incoming Students

As cliché as it may sound, you don’t need to have your career or major figured out as soon as you start college. I started my freshman year as one major that I wasn’t very happy about, and ended up finding my true calling by the time I was a sophomore. And make sure to attend as many events as possible, cause it’s definitely worth it!

I am so thankful for each and everyone of my classmates for being part of my experience here at southern and making it so memorable. And to my social work peers, I couldn’t do it without you! Even though we were virtual, the love and support from all of you made this journey possible! We did it!!

Favorite Time at SCSU

The social work pinning ceremony! As much as I enjoyed my experience here at southern, my favorite part was finally getting to put a face to my peers and see them in person. Completely a BSW program completely virtual made things very challenging at times, but coming together for the first time ever and seeing everyone’s smiles really put my journey into perspective that I wouldn’t have been here without the support from my social work family.

What are you going to miss the most, and what are you looking forward to the most?

I am going to miss being young and not knowing what’s next, and I’m going to miss the journey it took me to get here. Although it’s a bit of a love hate relationship with all the challenges it took me to get here, I am great full, and this feels so unreal! I am most excited for grad school, and my goal to obtain my MSW! As much as I am going to miss being young and not knowing what’s next, it’s because of this program that I know now exactly what I am supposed to do next. There is no doubt in my mind that I am on the right path, and I am excited for what’s next!

Advice to Incoming Students

Never doubt your worth, and never let anyone tell you can’t! You can!
