My favorite part of my time at Southern was sitting in the remembrance garden when the weather was beautiful or just walking around campus.
I will miss all my professors who made my college learning experience very enjoyable and unforgettable. I learned so much about myself and the world around us. I am looking forward to using what I have learned and applying it to my future career!
Step out of your comfort zone and get involved in all that Southern offers! There are so many opportunities and great people that you will meet along the way. Remember always to be YOU! Welcome to the Owl Family!!
Making friends within my major.
I am looking forward to ending this chapter of my life and beginning another chapter in my life to bigger and better things.
College is going to make you feel you cannot do this, but you got this. You are your biggest cheerleader. The bumps in the road do not determine your success as a student.
Reteaching material to a bunch of teachers not even 20 minutes before Professor Madu’s final. Love you Madu
I’m gonna miss my besties that I made along the way. I genuinely wouldn’t be here without you.
Don’t waste time
Reflecting on my journey at Southern, my favorite memories reside in the chapters of my junior and senior years (2022-2024). These pivotal years marked a profound period of self-discovery and growth. Immersing myself in campus life, from serving on executive boards to embracing academic challenges, I found a profound sense of purpose and identity. Despite facing unique obstacles outside of school, I found solace in the unwavering support from the Southern community especially the Caribbean Student Association. It was during these defining moments that I realized Southern wasn't just a university; it was my sanctuary, my catalyst for personal and academic transformation. With gratitude, I acknowledge that my decision to pursue my bachelor's here was definitely the right choice.
Gone are the days of snagging complimentary t-shirts, free food, and snacks.. a subtle reminder of the inevitable rise in inflation. Yet, amidst this transition, I find myself eagerly anticipating the unknown adventures that lie ahead. While I can't predict the specifics of my future path, one thing is certain: Southern will forever hold a place of pride for having nurtured and shaped me during my academic journey.
Don't be afraid to get involved! Joining a club can be an essential tool in finding your community on campus and keeping you focused on getting good grades while having fun.
Having the opportunity to be on the Track & Field and Cross Country team at Southern and meeting the people who have become my closest friends and biggest support system throughout my academic and athletic endeavors.
I am going to miss my teammates and coaches the most, but I am looking forward to using everything I have learned and my experiences from Southern to make a difference in the world.
Time flies. Take advantage of every opportunity and do things that you will look back on and think, "I'm happy I did that"
Talking to different people, attending workshops, and, of course, being in the costume shop at the Lyman Center.
The people that I am connected to and the support and guidance that I have received from classmates, friends, and professors have made me feel like I am not alone.
Always be yourself and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Make sure you advocate for yourself. Don't hesitate to ask for assistance if you are experiencing difficulty in class, and you are going to enjoy your time here.
