Working at the student center and taking classes with friends to make the class more memorable.
I'm going to miss seeing my friends every day without planning it and living a responsibility-free life.
My freshman year someone told me the 4 years are going to fly by and I laughed and said I hope so. But it actually flew by, so make sure to make the fullest of each day.
Visiting the UAP office!
I’m going to miss all of my lovely professors which I have grown a bond with! However, I am looking forward to starting this new chapter in my life!
Never be afraid to ask for HELP! The campus has so many resources that are there for that exact purpose!
Getting to meet various students and faculty that have made a profound impact on my education as well as my life.
I am going to miss the little things such as heading to class on a nice spring evening, or getting lost because our class is in a basement. I look forward to applying what I have learned at Southern and making an impact on students' just like how some professors made an impact on me.
Keep your head up. There are going to be days where you doubt yourself. Do not let your doubts take over your every day life, get up, get moving, clean, go for a walk, etc., but do not let it manifest to the point where you quit all your dreams. Also, if you are lost, absolutely ask for help, the Southern community will help you out! Enjoy your time here, it goes by quick, tomorrow you will look back and realize that in a few weeks you are going to be graduating, take it slow and enjoy your time at Southern.
My biggest piece of advice would be to manage your time well when organizing your assignments and being able to complete them before the deadline. Don’t stress yourself out more than you need to be!
Working on my undergraduate thesis paper on the Great Ship of New Haven Connecticut from the 17th century. I also wrote about the alleged phantom vision of the ship over the New Haven harbor in the summer of 1647. I also enjoyed studying in Buley Library.
I look forward to continuing my education at Central Connecticut State University I plain on earning my masters in public history at Central. I will miss the history and political science professors.
Being with my friends I met through Peer Mentoring and working in Wintergreen.
I will probably miss peer mentoring the most. I am looking forward to starting the grad program at Southern next fall.
Use your resources such as classmates, CASAS, professors, peer mentors, etc. and advocate for yourself and collaborate with others. You may end up graduating a year early like myself. Remember that everyone is starting off at the same place as you are going into college and probably have the same fears so try to be the one to go up to them and you'll meet life long friends.
Group study sessions, meaningful conversations in and out of the classroom, wonderful people to learn and grow alongside of.
Forever a student of the world. Stay curious and be brave.
“If you are not in the arena getting your ass kicked on occasion, I’m not interested in or open to your feedback. There are a million cheap seats in the world today filled with people who will never be brave with their lives but who will spend every ounce of energy they have hurling advice and judgment at those who dare greatly. Their only contributions are criticism, cynicism, and fearmongering. If you’re criticizing from a place where you’re not also putting yourself on the line, I’m not interested in what you have to say.” -Brené Brown, Dare to Lead: Brave Work.
